Western Themed Weddings

Most little girls dream about their future wedding, some even rope in a friend or dog to play the groom in their make-believe wedding as a child. When the big time comes, it's a wonderful experience, but it can also be slightly stressful and overwhelming. There are so many things that must be done, but the first is always the hardest: the theme. However, if you're a western girl through and through, it just makes sense that yours would be a western-themed wedding. Luckily, there are so many ways to bring this to life, and we've pulled together some of our favorite ideas, including pieces that you can purchase at our store!
Whether you've chosen a ranch wedding venue or are having your ceremony and reception in a barn, western-themed weddings can be as chic or as country as you want. It's all a matter of incorporating the right ideas that fit the couple best.
- Hay bales for seating. This is a win-win, your guests will have a place to sit and you'll save money on renting chairs. However, as we all know, hay can get very itchy, so it's best to make sure that you have blankets on top of the hay bales to ensure that your guests aren't struggling to sit still during your vows. Adding certain blankets will also give it an elegant touch that it may be lacking if you go with just hay bales.
- Cowboy boots. When you're in a beautiful dress all day, you may be tempted to go for the heels, but those may not be comfortable for a day or night full of dancing and greeting guests. Instead, wear a comfortable pair of cowboy boots. We have several options that were designed with brides in mind and have special rhinestone or pink or blue touches to add a little special something. This is also a great way to keep your bridesmaids with you on the dance floor all night long if they too are in comfortable shoes. Also, if your wedding is outdoors, you don't have to worry about a heel getting caught in the dirt.
- Bring in a horse. If you're getting married on a ranch or in a barn, there is likely a beautiful horse nearby that would be wonderful to include in the pictures. If you or the groom know how to ride, you could even arrange to ride up to the aisle on a horse, and then jump down to begin your walk to your future.
- Use horseshoes for decoration. Whether you want someone to find their table number by giving them a horseshoe with that on it or you want to have fun yard games, horseshoes can be a wonderful addition to a western wedding.
- Offwhite bridesmaid dresses. If you're in all white, there's no reason your girls can't be up next to you in off white. It'll make the color scheme easy enough to follow, and you can then allow them to choose the right style that fits best for them. We have a great selection of offwhite dresses that would be perfect for a western-themed wedding.
- Western cake topper. To give it the full western touch, especially if your groom swept you off your feet, try a western cake topper. We have a Prairie Rose one that is a wonderful addition to a variety of wedding cake styles.
